autoradiography
the production of a photographic record of the radiation from radioactive material in an object, made by placing the object with its surface close to a photographic emulsion

Note: the emulsion is carried on a film or plate or, for microautoradiography, used to coat the sample directly. Ionising radiation, emitted by radioactive compounds used as markers or labels, results in the production of image grains which are fixed using normal photographic developers
